Embarkation from Cape Town
Your journey begins in captivating Cape Town, where mountains meet two oceans, and warm trade winds intermingle with icy waters in a vibrant global metropolis. Explore the Cape Winelands, take the ferry to Robben Island to learn the prisoner stories over its 500-year history, go climbing at Table Mountain National Park, or museum hopping in the city. Following a luxurious day at sea, it’s a late-night stay in Port Elizabeth, where you can delve into its storied history on the Donkin Heritage Trail and visit the animal sanctuary of Addo Elephant National Park. Up the adventure factor with an overnight safari experience to Shamwari Private Game Reserve. In the river port of East London, take in a breathtaking wildlife safari or stroll, swim, kayak, bird watch, or on the sweeping white sand and dunes of some of the world’s finest beaches.
After another blissful day at sea, your day begins in the bustling capital of Maputo, Mozambique, where you can discover well-preserved Portuguese influenced architecture and peruse the local market and vendors for bright African wax prints and woven fabrics, Batik cloth, wood carvings, or any type of cashew imaginable (Mozambique’s second biggest export).
Take advantage of a late-night stay in Richards Bay to go on a safari at Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park—where you’ll find Africa’s “big five” animals in the oldest proclaimed nature reserve in Africa. Then we make our way to the unexpectedly delightful Durban, home to the proud Zulu people and the largest Indian population in Africa, to explore golden beaches and a rich tapestry of world cultures. With two days at sea, take the time to really indulge. Pamper yourself in Sanctum Spa, savor fine dining and wines at one of our specialty dining venues, and take in an entertaining signature show.
Mossel Bay (also known as Mosselbaai) was made for adventure, but has plenty to offer whether you want to go on an adventure or prefer quieter pursuits. Take a guided cave tour at Point of Human Origins, a world renowned archaeological site where first evidence of modern human behavior was discovered, dating back 162,000 years. Admire sweeping views and sighting four of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino) on a safari game drive at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve or visit a working ostrich farm and enjoy learning about the world’s largest bird. Play a dramatic cliff top round of golf at Pinnacle Point, South Africa’s top course, or enjoy the beautiful scenery of one of South Africa’s most well-known road trips, the Garden Route.
Your journey ends with an overnight stay in Cape Town, where you can circle back to check off the attractions you missed the first time around. Sip your way around the Cape Winelands, the country’s largest wine region with six distinct wine routes to explore. Dip your toes in both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans on one of the area’s many beaches, visit the colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach, or peruse the shops and restaurants at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. This multicultural metropolis is a city unlike any other.
