Your Greek adventure begins surprisingly, not in Greece, but in Istanbul, Turkey, where epicures can explore culinary delights, such as kebabs, köfte, and döner before embarking on your journey. After you depart from Istanbul, you’ll spend a night at sea, where you can unwind and enjoy Broadway-caliber entertainment or pampering spa treatment as you gear up for the rest of your journey. Your first stop in Greece is a late stay in Kavala, where you can spend your day exploring historic Xanthi, the city of a thousand colors, or follow the footsteps of early pilgrims on a visit to ancient Philippi. Next, Thessaloniki’s 15 UNESCO World Heritage sites await, as does a lively nightlife scene that you can soak up during a late-night visit. Don't miss Vergina and the Tomb of Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great. In Volos, spend time strolling the city streets and working up an appetite for a fresh platter of calamari, paired perfectly with the beloved local spirit, tsipouro. Take a trip inland to visit Meteora, where medieval monks built a monastery complex hundreds of precarious feet in the air on soaring sandstone rock faces.

Chios is next on the agenda, an island known for its beautiful beaches, trademark mastic trees and their prized resin, and Homer’s Stone, the rock where the great poet taught his students. No trip to Chios is complete without a stroll through the mazes of narrow alleys and traditional houses decorated in dizzying black and white patterns. Mykonos is next. Explore its stunning beaches by traditional kaiki or head over to discover the uninhabited island of Delos, the mythological birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.  Arrive in Kepez, the gateway to Canakkale, Troy, and Gallipoli. Here, a stroll along the Kordon (the waterfront promenade), followed by time spent exploring the vibrant cobbled lanes are both can’t-miss experiences. Your journey concludes back in Istanbul. Take time to experience all the must-sees: the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar—one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world.
